Software engineering is one of the modern disciplines that has arisen to keep pace with the great and rapid development in information technology, software analysis and design. The software engineering major was introduced in the college as an independent department in the spring 2018 semester as part of the development of the College of Technology. The Department of Software Engineering at the College of Information Technology is working on developing its plans and programs to keep pace with this development, and to provide the best in terms of practical and information theory.

Department goals:
1. Professional knowledge:
It is the ability to demonstrate good mastery of software engineering knowledge, skills and professional standards necessary to begin practice as an engineer programmer. 2. Technical knowledge:
Demonstrate an appropriate understanding and application of theories, models, and techniques that provide a basis for problem identification and analysis, solution design, development, implementation, verification, and documentation.

Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation for the importance of negotiation, effective work habits, leadership and good communication with stakeholders in a typical software development environment.
