University of Kigali has endeavored to be the seat of academic excellence in Rwanda. The School of Computing and IT has continuously adapted itself to suit diverse student needs in a rapidly changing and growing regional economy. The School continues, each year, to attract some of the nation’s best and maintains a diverse student body with a great degree of gender balance.
At the undergraduate level, the School of Computing and IT offers a 3-year undergraduate Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS), Business Information Technology (BBIT) and Information Technology (BIT) degrees. These degree programs are conducted simultaneously in the Day, Evening and Weekend sessions. School of Computing and IT Mission and Purpose- The mission of School of Computing and IT is to provides secure, reliable, and integrated technology solutions in alignment with academic and administrative goals, while delivering excellence in customer service. Following are the objectives the Department of IT (Dept. IT) for the 2013/2014 academic year.
- Promote safe, disciplined, and drug-free learning environments.
- Improve learning by ensuring that more students have effective teachers through implementing evaluation and support systems that consider multiple measurers of effectiveness.
- Stimulate a working environment within the faculty that is supportive of staff and encourages active engagement and a positive contribution from individual members of staff.
- Support innovation in programme design and delivery, learning, teaching and assessment methods and student support, and lead the faculty’s commitment to a learning culture for staff and students.
